The Mission of the Special Needs Ministry

To reach out to our families of exceptional children and young adults with special needs by offering a variety of opportunities for worship and fellowship. We believe that all of God’s children need to experience His love, and we want to welcome these families by providing support and encouragement through this ministry.

About Our Programs

Our ministry volunteers consist of experienced special needs workers from our congregation, family members of children with special needs, and individuals who have a desire to serve Christ and a genuine love for people. We invite you to take advantage of the programs offered at GCC.

Sensory Break Room

A class is currently being offered on Sundays during the 9:30 and 11:00 services for special needs 3 year olds through young adults, allowing parents and family members to attend our regular worship service. The class provides activities for sensory breaks and teaches with an adjusted curriculum. It is staffed with an experienced special needs worker and at least one other adult. Parents who are interested are asked to contact Wendy Arthur at 883-1409 or warthur@cpcsc.k12.in.us, or Margie Britt at 882-5758 or joemarjoriebritt@yahoo.com so that we can assess the needs of your child and ensure that we have adequate staffing.

Buddy Program

This program matches up a special needs child with a group of child or adult "Buddies" on Sunday mornings. This allows the opportunity to develop relationships within the church, while providing assistance to attend and participate in class. If this appeals to you, please contact Kelli Webb at 535-8522 or bwebb_2000@yahoo.com so that we can pair your child with a "Buddy".
